We started our morning working on our Social Studies research projects. Most students are now working on the second part of the assignment, which is creating a visual that shows what they learned about the specific First Nations group they are studying. After Social Studies we worked on our Hatchet Audition Scrapbook assignment. As students finish up they are encouraged to add to their work by a) creating additional event entries for their scrapbook, b) adding more detail to their existing entries, or c) adding an explanation as to why they believe they are best suited to be cast as Brian (by comparing their own qualities to the qualities they have identified for Brian). Tomorrow is the last day to work on this assignment in class, and it is due Monday, March 18th. In math today we started 4 new stations to practice equivalent fractions. The stations were ... a) Fraction Scavenger Hunt b) Number line practice + dominos c) Equivalent Fraction Mazes d) Independent practice (questions from the math textbook). We had a reading period after lunch. Because students work very hard all morning they were allowed to choose whether they read in English of French. Some students chose to work on unfinished work for the second half of our reading period.
Students then had their final practice with Ajay for tomorrow's dance performance. Ajay has asked that students dress in dark clothing tomorrow for their dance, and wear a dark colored or white hat (a baseball hat is preferred, but they can bring a toque if that is all they have). After Phys. Ed students had some time to observe their salt crystal experiment and note their observations in their science notebook. We then had a few demonstrations that required students to make observations and classify the demonstration as an example of a physical or chemical change.
