Here is a quick recap of our last two days in Room 19. In English we continued to work on our Hatchet Scrapbook projects. A reminder that these are due Monday March 18th. In Math we worked through 4 new stations to help practice identifying and creating equivalent fractions. The stations were : A) Equivalent Fractions Race, B) Equivalent Fractions Spoons, C) An equivalent fractions puzzle and D) An equivalent fractions emoji coloring activity. Monday we had Phys. Ed and students practiced their dance routine with Ajay. Today students had music and they worked on their garage band projects.
In Science we set up a salt crystals lab on Monday. We discussed the concept of a saturated solution, and what might happen if a saturated salt solution is allowed to cool over time. If you are interested in a fun (and tasty) experiment that you can do at home that covers the same concept, check out the link below. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VpOU0Fo7QfU Today in Science we read about and discussed the concept of Physical vs. Chemical changes. Some examples of physical changes we discussed were : cracking and egg, crumpling aluminum foil, changes of state (for example melting a solid to form a liquid), breaking a glass, and slicing an apple. Some examples of chemical changes that we discussed were: baking bread or cookies, burning a match, mold forming on bread, and digestion. We had some time to work on our Social Studies research project today as well. Several students are finishing up the note taking step of the project and beginning to work on the visual component. Reminders: Thursday March 14 is Pajama Day for all of VAS! Friday March 15 is the dance share, you are invited to come see the dance that your child has been working on in Phys. Ed over the past few weeks.
