Math: We have been discussing division with remainders, and how in different scenarios remainders are interpreted differently. Students have been working through division problems and determining whether they need to Ignore, share, use, or add one more to the remainder in order to solve the problem.
We have also been playing "division hockey" to continue to practice our division skills. Social Studies: Students have been finishing up their objects and explanations for their culture/quality of life projects. We will present these projects in a gallery walk format Tuesday February 12th. English: This week we have finished the novel Hatchet. Students will have their final literature circle meeting Tuesday February 12th. French: During this weeks guided reading lessons we discussed the function and purpose and a glossary. Health: We began discussing this months virtue, Inclusivity. We read The Invisible Boy, and began to discuss what Inclusivity means. We will continue to touch on this throughout the rest of the month. Art: Students drew landscapes that represented one of the physical regions of Canada. They then used different patterns, in a variety of colours, to add texture to the various sections of their drawing. Phys. Ed: Students finished their gymnastics unit this week. Mr. Trevor has sent home his assessment of their gymnastics routines. Throughout this week and last week students also had the chance to work one on one with Mme Amanda on their mental math strategies for division.
