We started our day with an independent work period. Many students worked on completing their Social Studies task that we began yesterday. This is homework (due tomorrow) for those students that still have not completed it. Other students practiced for the division assessment in the afternoon.
In English we continued planning our Hatchet Scrapbook task. Mme gave us a copy of the checklist that we made together so that we can make sure we have done everything before we hand it in. If we were finished our plan we started to get to work on the task itself. After recess Seth showed us an experiment he did at home with his mom. They put an egg in vinegar for a day, and the shell dissolved! In Phys. Ed we started our hockey unit. In Health we started an activity for Pink Shirt Day. We discussed the different people involved in a situation of bullying. The Bystander, the Bully and the Bullied. We each drew a piece of paper with one of these roles on it, and had to discuss with other students who picked the same role what it might be like to be that person. We are going to write poems from their perspective in class tomorrow. At lunch all students interested in participating in this years math competition met with Mme Amanda, and have started to prepare for the competition. After lunch we had our division evaluation. Mme April will try to have them marked and returned for Thursday, but will give them back Monday at the latest. After our evaluation Mme put us in new desk groups. Last week we told Mme if we would prefer to sit alone, with a partner, or in a small group. Mme used that information to create the new groups. We have 3 groups of 4, 1 group of 3, 4 groups of 2, and 2 people that wanted to sit by themselves. Reminders: Pink Shirt day tomorrow. Social Studies reading/table to be completed for tomorrow.
